I’ve just happened across this David Attenborough clip for anyone interested in following up on the dung beetle story. Start from 1:26 if you are squeamish and just want the funny bits. I’ll be interested to observe our own Doug, Juanita, and Ringo to see whether Mexican Dung Beetles have skills in martial arts. Maybe they just shoot each other gangsta style.
Geoff finds Dung Beetles fascinating and is now desperate to visit. I will leave you two to it while I gaze at the prettyer sights …
That Geoff is a fine man. G&T on the deck for you my dear while he and I beetle about in the paddocks (I’m pretty sure the rest of my family will be on the deck with you!).
I am sure the Forebearing Husband and I will find plenty we can chat about together! Geoff has reluctantly accepted he will not be able to smuggle any Dung Beetles back to his urban backyard to naturalise. Not enough dung and no room for a pony to provide any.
Poor Geoff. I feel his pain.
The correct ontomological term for such creatures is _dung_ fu beetle.
That’s very good!
