Darling Daughter arrived at the farmlet last night. I knew she’d be hoping for a Christmas tree, but I hadn’t been organised enough. So this morning we went tree hunting.
There were quite a few options on the western boundary. Small pines that were planted way too close together and need thinning. Perfect!
Maisie got bored and tried to speed things up. From her point of view all trees are just very large sticks.
After some deliberation a suitable candidate was selected.
And the lucky (?) tree was marked with… wait for it… bailing twine.
The Forbearing Husband was dispatched with the chainsaw, and presently he returned triumphant.
It’s never going to make it into Homes and Gardens, but as far as use of local resource we’re winning all the way.
How’s your Christmas tree looking? Or do you prefer to leave trees for the birds to sit in?
i prefer my Christmas trees on the small screen: https://youtu.be/7dw45dGMGNY
Fortunately there were no such shenanigans involved in obtaining our tree.
Game Man chose our tree using the “grab the closest one and get out of here quick” technique. Consequently it is very big and I had to rearrange the lounge twice to make it look appropriate. It smells devine!
So now your lounge has a bookcase, a library chair and a Christmas tree. That’s the very best combination of seasonal accessories.
Merry Christmas ❤️🌲
Ours is full on traditional extravaganza
I even have a couple decorations you gave me many years ago 😊
I’ve been collecting decorations for about 30 years now and need part of the garage to keep all the boxes in….
You’ve always done a beautiful Christmas tree. I have a couple of Victorian style angels on ours that I’m pretty sure came from you way back in our library days. 🙂
Please tell Darling Daughter, that as per tradition, we have a photo of her on the mantel piece as a baby Christmas angel.
Our usual tree is looking worse for wear now – I found it on the side of the road a few years ago – so we have borrowed one of Mum’s this year. Why she has more than one artificial Christmas Tree I do not know. It looks fabulous at our place – decorated in red and silver. Most years we put ALL the decorations up – this year went for a more Homes & Gardens look.
Oh you are so sweet to still have that card 22 years later! It is pretty cheesy (but a fave of mine of course).
Sounds like you have the season sorted. H&G tree, private nightclub. The C/B res. is the place to be at Christmas I reckon. Hugs to all xxx
